What better way to watch it than just off the beach – no traffic jams, no 70,000 other people fighting for your seat, and with the displays taking place directly overhead (I swear the Red Arrows lined up on our mast last time!!). You won’t even need to carry your lunch or queue for coffee!

Watch the show on either day aboard EMMA. On 23rd we are offering 5 individual places at £95 each (20% discount for returning charter clients), and on 24th you can charter EMMA exclusively for your party (up to 5 people) for £350. These are our normal daily rates, but you get the benefit of a full day’s sailing (its about 3.5 hours to Clacton) AND the show. Lunch, tea, coffee and soft drinks included.

The schedule for the 23rd includes a Battle of Britain Memorial display (Lancaster, Hurricane, Spitfire) plus a Vulcan Bomber, and the 24th includes the Battle of Britain and the Red Arrows.

The day starts with a bacon roll aboard EMMA at 8.45 a.m. We’ll slip the lines at 9.30 and make our way downstream to Pin Mill to watch the start at 10 a.m.  Then we’ll sail for a few hours before returning to Woolverstone at 1.30 p.m.

Many yacht charter companies provide team building programmes. Thank you so much for a great trip on Emma last weekend. We all had such a wonderful day and thoroughly enjoyed it from the moment we stepped on board. It was great to have the opportunity to

take part in sailing Emma and really appreciated your patience when showing us the ropes! The trip has reignited Chris’ love for sailing and has encouraged him to pursue the RYA competent crew course. Helen’s initial nerves were quickly settled when she took the helm and there have already been calls for a second voyage! The day was great fun, offering elements of both complete relaxation and huge exhilaration with the changing pace on the waters.

“There’s only one word to describe our amazing day out…. Wow!  There were four of us on the trip and one had never been sailing before, and two only on a little dingy.  Nobody really knew what to expect.  It was exhilarating and a perfect  way to appreciate our beautiful Suffolk coastline and countryside.  We were fortunate with the weather on a lovely Spring day, it was warm and sunny with enough breeze to fill the sails and get the adrenalin pumping.  Simon taught us the basics in sailing and we all got involved in tacking our way up the river. Weeks later. . . and we are still excitedly talking about it to anyone who shows the slightest interest. We are now looking at joining one of the many local sailing clubs and keeping our eyes open for a small boat for ourselves to learn on.  I would recommend a day out like this for many reasons, we experienced moments of relaxation, exhilaration, exercise and lovely fresh air and it’s an excellent way to celebrate a special occasion.”

Boulogne's Fortressed City and Cathedral

EMMA made her maiden voyage across the English Channel in May, visiting Boulogne via Ramsgate in fine weather and fair winds.

“I met up with Simon Sunday night at Woolverstone Marina on the Orwell River. After getting my gear on board and going through the safety procedures we headed for the marina pub/restaurant for a well deserved meal and local bitter. The sun was setting in front of us as we looked over the Orwell River… what a delight!

We got underway after an early breakfast of bacon rolls, orange juice and coffee. The weather was still glorious and would remain so through out our passage to Ramsgate and then onto Boulogne. Ramsgate has a lovely scenic seafront; its still an active sea port with a fleet of fishing vessels, maintenance vessels for the offshore wind turbines and a ferry that dominates the harbour as it’s steams in to moor up.

We motored across the Channel and entered the busy port of Boulogne-sur-Mer. The marina is right next to the fishing fleet with the hustle and bustle that accompanies their activity. The old town of Boulogne with its ramparts, cathedral and medieval castle are certainly worth the visit and if you like moule frite or steak frite the choice is vast.

After two nights in Boulogne we headed off early on Thursday to take advantage of tides and currents; on Friday morning we again sailed out early for the same reasons. Off Clacton-on-Sea with raised our cruising chute to take advantage of winds from amidships and sailed quickly towards Felixstowe. The final sail home along the Orwell was pleasant with winds slightly astern of amidships. We were lucky with the weather and the winds and this made for great five days! Thanks Simon.”
